How you mount the battery unit

Our battery mounted GPS is small, smart and waterproof and is equipped with an internal spare battery to detect if it is disconnected. It is equipped with an extra strong antenna which enables mounting directly on the car battery, even under the bonnet. The device is also equipped with a special clamping contact for an easy installation on the car battery & gyroscope sensors with precise movement detection, which is perfectly suited for mileage logs.

Where is the battery?

Start by localising the battery. Previously it was most common that the battery was placed under the bonnet, but in recent years it has become more common with placement inside the car. If you cannot find it under the bonnet it is worth checking under the floor by the passenger seat, or in the boot. If you have a charging hybrid, it may be worth asking a professional for correct installation advice.

Mounting

When mounting, it is important that you protect yourself. Make sure that the car’s engine is completely switched off and wear gloves when handling or touching the battery.

Once you have found the battery, remove the battery cover to access the battery. On the back of the device is a double-sided tape that is used to attach the device to the battery. Attach the unit with the antenna and LED indicators facing up.

The unit’s power cable is designed to be connected directly to the positive terminal bracket on the car battery and the ground wire is designed to be connected directly to the negative bracket on the car battery.

The battery-mounted unit is the second most common after the OBD unit which is placed in the car’s diagnostic socket. The OBD unit is also easy to install. WorkMirror offers both of these devices at the same price (SEK 79 / month)
